Pipe Freeze Repairs
Central Queensland Plumbing have used Liquid Nitrogen to freeze the contents of pipes, allowing operations such as pipe repair or valve replacement to be performed and new connections to be made.
A sleeve or dam is built around the pipe and Liquid Nitrogen is poured in so that the constant contact between pipe and nitrogen (at -200°C) causes the pipes contents to freeze into an extremely solid plug. Once this plug is in place it acts as a de facto shut-off valve and allows any work on the inlet side to be done.
