Asbestos
Asbestos Removal, Bonded and Friable
As of the 1st of January 2008 all workplaces must comply with the asbestos management code, which specifies obligations in relation to the removal and disposal of both bonded and friable asbestos material. Both bonded and friable asbestos should only be removed by qualified and licensed persons as to minimise the risk to others.
Central Queensland Plumbing (CQP) has invested both time and money into training and equipping their staff for the safe removal and disposal of both bonded and friable asbestos products. CQP has staff holding both ‘A’ class licenses for the supervision and removal of friable asbestos and ‘B’ class licenses for the removal of 10m2 or more of bonded asbestos. All work undertaken by CQP is done in accordance with the National Code of Practice for the management and control of asbestos in workplaces (NOHSC: 2018:2005) asbestos management code, and the national Code of Practice for the safe removal of asbestos 2nd edition (NOHSC: 2002:2005) asbestos removal code.
Although asbestos is no longer used in construction of buildings, the use of white asbestos continued until its ban in 2003. It is estimated that up to half a million domestic and about a quarter of a million non domestic structures contain some form of asbestos.
CQP recently tendered and won the contract for the removal and replacement of roofs containing asbestos products in several Central Queensland School.
